Dahlias starting to bloom late July

Now Blooming at the Lake
July 26, 2025
Flower season is now in full swing. The early summer flowers are finished and the mid to late summer varieties are starting to show off their beauty.
I'm growing quite a few new to me varieties of flowers & plants this year. Many I will definitely grow again next year, such as Lisianthus, sweet peas and attriplex.
I've added a bunch of new bouquet photos from 2025 in my bouquet section. I will again be hosting bouquet making events early August until mid September.
See my dahlia page for mid-summer dahlia care tips. About 1/3 of the dahlia varieties I grow have begun to bloom. By the 2nd week of August I will likely be picking 30-50 blooms each day.
Big News! Beginning Tuesday, July 29, I will be offering market bouquets at Valerie Ann's Family Foods in Merrifield as a fundraiser for area food shelves. Stop by Valerie Ann's and pick up a bouquet!
I would love volunteers to make up market bouquets each Monday and either Wednesday or Thursday late afternoon/early evening for 1-2 hours August through September. See my events page to sign up.
